Michael Pappas (Peter Gallagher) and his girlfriend, Cathy (Daryl Hannah), are enjoying the white sand beaches of a Greek island as well as the freewheeling nature of the locals. When Michael meets Lina (Valerie Quennessen), who is in Greece from Paris doing archaeological work, he is enamored with the beautiful foreigner. Cathy, unhappy about Lina getting close to Michael, confronts the woman -- only to be unexpectedly wooed by her charms as well.

On the Greek island of Santorini, tourists and locals lounge on the beach as recent college graduate Michael Pappas and his high school sweetheart, Cathy Featherstone, arrive at their hillside villa for summer vacation. Once inside, the couple make love, and the next morning visit various ancient ruins and relax on a beach. Cathy is uncomfortable among the nude bathers as Michael explores a nearby cave, where he is closely watched by a topless woman. The next day, while Michael observes the neighbors with binoculars, he notices the topless woman standing outside a house across the hill. However, Cathy drags him inside and shows him the photographic darkroom she built to pursue her hobby during their trip. Later, on his way to the market, Michael bumps into the mysterious woman. As he follows her through the streets, he overhears her speaking French. After a week, Cathy becomes comfortable enough to skinny-dip in the ocean, and shares her sexual fantasies with Michael.
